Intercity Airways is a virtual airline (VA); a community of hobbyists who enjoy simulating the operation of aircraft, pilots and airlines using a flight simulator on a personal computer. Intercity Airways does not operate any aircraft, have any offices, employ any persons or sell tickets for travel. Intercity Airways is a not-for-profit entity run by volunteers and generates no revenue, its sole purpose is to provide entertainment for its members. However, its owners retain complete legal rights over any material it has created.

1) By accessing the Intercity Airways website, www.viaintercity.com, you agree to bound by the terms and conditions outlined herein.
2) All content contained within the website is the material of and copyright to Christopher Liu and Christopher Hulme. All images and logos remain property of their respective owners. The Intercity Airways™ name, bird wing silhouette logo device and aircraft colour scheme/livery remain the property of Christopher Liu; they may not be used without prior permission.
3) Our website creates a single cookie on your machine containing session and state information. The information within this cookie does not include any personal or financial information. Our website requires cookies to be enabled in the web browser and in any third party security programs to allow tasks such as registering, logging in and other functionality. Please be aware that should cookies be disabled or blocked by third party software, many of the features of the website will be impaired or unavailable. At no point does the Intercity Airways website create any third party cookies on your machine.
4) “Hot-linking” to the Intercity Airways website, that is to embedded any file accessed through www.viaintercity.com within a webpage, is not permitted, except for support banner images which are available through the Discussion Forums.
5) Intercity Airways accept no responsibility for the content of external links.
6) You may not use any of the content contained within the website for any purpose other than your own personal use, without prior written permission.
7) Intercity Airways accepts no responsibility in respect of any loss or damage of any kind whatsoever which may arise from use of our website or other services/products.
8) Any information on the website relating to aviation (including but not limited to navigational charts and diagrams, aircraft operating techniques, flight schedules and weather is intended for flight simulation purposes only and must not be used for actual flying, navigation or real world aviation. Any operation or documentation that is similar to any actual airline is purely coincidental and is in no way intended to violate any copyright, trademarks or other protection laws.
1) By submitting your membership application to Intercity Airways you are bound by all terms and conditions as outlined within this page.
2) All applications must be completed with full honesty and a genuine intent to join Intercity Airways. All duplicate and false applications will be automatically rejected.
3) The minimum age at which a person may apply to join Intercity Airways is normally fifteen (15) years. Pilots intending to join Intercity Airways below this age may apply, and their application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the management team. Anybody found to have provided an incorrect date of birth will be subject to immediate termination of their membership.
4) Pilots intending to join Intercity Airways are required to sit an online examination. This will consist of a brief multiple-choice exam, demonstrating your knowledge of basic aviation procedures utilised in commercial operations. Members may be required to sit this test at any time, not just during the application process. Full details of the exam will be given beforehand.
5) Pilots intending to join Intercity Airways must be in possession of Microsoft Flight Simulator 9 (2004), 10/FSX (2006) or Lockheed Martin Prepared (P3D). Applicants should be aware we are unable to support prior versions of Flight Simulator.
6) Previous flying hours may be transferred to your Intercity Airways account, subject to an authoritative reference being provided (e.g. direct link to a personally identifiable logbook at a virtual airline). If you provide a VATSIM and/or IVAO user number on your application, these hours can be transferred by request after you log your first flight with us. The Management reserves the right to revoke transferred hours at any time. Transferred hours will not count towards awards but may count towards rank
7) Intercity Airways reserve the right to reject any application to join the airline without reason.
8) If you have previously logged hours for Intercity Airways you should e-mail requesting account reactivation.
Upon acceptance of your application to Intercity Airways you are subject to our Code of Conduct. Our Code of Conduct is as follows:
1) In order to conduct a flight with Intercity Airways, members must fly a route contained within our schedules, using the aircraft type specified. Members must not attempt a flight they are unable to complete (i.e. land safely at the destination airfield) and diversions are only permitted in exceptional and unforeseen circumstances (e.g. bad weather, technical problems, medical issue or fuel shortage). The scheduled times are “block times” (i.e. departure time is when the engines are started, and arrival time is when the engines are shutdown) stated in Zulu/GMT/UTC.
Before commencing your pre-flight routine you should set the time in the simulator to ensure you can log an on-time departure, unless you are turning around from a previous flight (i.e. set the time in FS to approx 20 minutes before scheduled departure time), and once you have set the time you should not change it again. The exception to this is flying online, where your simulator time should be set to match real time, even if that causes a very early or late departure. You should try to complete the flight within the scheduled duration, flights that deviate by more than 10 minutes will be flagged orange in your logbook, and more than 30 minutes will be red.
2) Intercity Airways currency policy is one (1) flight per sixty (60) days, regardless of duration. Members who fail to meet this requirement will have their account status changed to inactive and a notification will be sent to their registered e-mail address. They will then have an additional ninety (90) days in which to complete a flight, to make their account active again.
Members who fail to log a flight within this 90 day period will be automatically removed from the airline, although they may apply by e-mail to have their account reinstated. New members must log their first flight within 30 days of starting their membership, otherwise they will be automatically removed.
3) Pilots unable to meet currency policy requirements may request a ‘Leave of Absence’ (LoA) to ensure they remain a member of Intercity Airways. Our leave policy entitles members to a maximum period of one hundred and eighty (180) days per annum where they will be exempt from currency requirements. Members wishing to request leave for longer than this period must contact the management team via e-mail, who will review the request on a case-by-case basis.
4) All members have access to our discussion forums and may also have access to voice communication services such as Teamspeak. Members must avoid using offensive language and discussing topics of a sensitive nature. The decision of any moderator and/or administrator is final and may not be criticised; members who have issues with moderation should e-mail or private message a member of the management team. Membership of other virtual airlines is not prohibited, but we do not permit other airlines to be promoted within our forums or when flying under the Intercity name or callsign. Members are subject to any additional rules stated in the forum.
5) In order to have their flight with Intercity Airways recorded, members need to download, install and run Intercity ACARS. Intercity ACARS is a standalone program which connects to FS9, FSX or P3D via FS UIPC, enabling you to submit a flight report so your flight can be logged by our database, enabling us to provide you with a logbook and ensuring you meet our currency policy. Click here to see a list of ACARS’s system requirements. Flights which are not completed (i.e. land safely at a suitable airfield) cannot be logged.
6) Pilots must monitor their aircraft for the duration of the flight, with the exception of comfort breaks; Intercity Airways does not support extended periods of away from keyboard (AFK) flying. To ensure all members are treated fairly, Intercity ACARS includes activity monitoring functionality that sounds an alarm and displays a message in Flight Simulator if an extended period of pilot inactivity is detected. The alarm will sound every 10 seconds until acknowledged by the pilot, which silences it. If the alarm is not acknowledged within a short period of time then the alarm silences automatically and Intercity ACARS will log a missed AFK check. AFK checks are moniroted by the management team and repeated occurances will be investigated and may lead to account termination.
This activity monitoring has been designed to be smart and unobtrusive; alarms will not sound during the critical phases of flight and you won’t need to leave Flight Simulator to acknowledge the alarm. The exact detection techniques utilised and timescales involved are confidential.
7) Use of time acceleration (sim rate) is discouraged, and your logbook hours may reflect time elapsed in reality (instead of time time elapsed in the simulator). When flying online, time acceleration maybe used online only when expressly permitted by an air traffic controller or when the aircraft is within uncontrolled airspace.
8) If pilots identify themselves as a member of Intercity Airways within any publically viewable material (such as social media, blogs, forums, screenshot galleries) they must follow any associated terms and conditions/rules/code of conduct at all times and must not promote any other virtual airlines or express negative views regarding Intercity Airways. Pilots are reminded that when they identify themselves as being a member of Intercity Airways, they are effectively an ambassador for the airline. Any member bringing Intercity Airways in to disrepute will have their membership terminated immediately.
9) We do not reject or discard any flight report/log that safely lands (i.e. flights that land heavily, arrived or depart late late or are subject to unforeseen diversions will not be rejected), but we reserve the right to adjust logged flight times to ensure they are a fair and accurate representation of your flying.
Members are not required to fly online, but if they choose to use or access any part of a flight simulator multiplayer provider, including their website or any communication channels, they are subject to Intercity Airways’ Online Flying policy as detailed below:
1) Members connecting to an online flying organisation (such as VATSIM or IVAO) must use their correct username and password at all times.
2) Members connected an online flying organisation must communicate in a professional manner, and must not, under any circumstances, cause offence to other pilots and/or controllers connected to that network. Members are reminded that whilst using the Intercity callsign you are an ambassador for the airline and their behaviour reflects upon all our members.
3) Members connected to any online flying organisation must follow any applicable terms and conditions/rules/code of conduct at all times.
4) Although not a requirement of Intercity Airways, it is highly recommended that members obtain current charts and weather information for their departure and arrival airports, and file a flightplan that adheres to the latest AIRAC cycle and routing rules in force including SIDs and STARs where applicable. Obtaining charts will greatly assist ATC at online flying organisations and helps ensure Intercity Airways remain a friendly face with ATCOs.
5) When connected to a multiplayer network, members flying an Intercity flight must use the following details where required:
ICAO identification code: ICX IATA identifier: IA Callsign: Intercity
You should use your flight number as your callsign. If the callsign is already in use, you may use your Intercity pilot ID number instead.
6) Members are not to simulate emergencies whilst flying online under the Intercity name. Genuine emergencies are permitted and should be handled according to the airlines SOP.
1) Intercity Airways reserve the right to update the terms & conditions of use on this page without prior notice.
2) The use of the word “we” infers Intercity Airways and its management team.
3) Members who are found to be in violation of any part of our terms and conditions may be subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of the management team, which may include immediate termination or indefinite suspension of your membership at Intercity Airways.
4) Intercity Airways reserves the right to terminate membership without prior notice and/or reason.
5) The use of the word “members”, “pilots” or “users” refers to persons who are listed on the pilot roster (i.e. our membership list)
6) This agreement and any disputes will be governed under the laws of England and Wales, under the jurisdiction of the English courts.
7) All dates in short format use the international standard (DD/MM/YY)

This information will be used purely for the purposes of analytics and tracking the number of visitors to our site.

We are committed to ensuring that any information you provide to us is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have measures and procedures to secure and safeguard the information we collect.
