Anyone here try it?   ::)

X plane 10 looks interesting.  The night lighting is incredible and there is so
much good quality freeware.  I have heard people say bad things about the visuals and
problems with setting up controllers.   Still, youtube videos do not support these claims!
Visuals look amazing and people are using all the different controllers and yokes out there.
Given the low price, I might try it out.  Also, helicopters fly more realistic in Xplane, so for that
alone it is worth it to me to try.

Some vids that I found interesting.

If I recall correctly, there is a free demo of XP10, restricted to Seattle and 15 minutes. Give it a whirl and see how you get on, I think you can even install addon aircraft in to it.

There is lots of freeware but a lack of quality heavy metal payware, notable exceptions being the Jrollon CRJ you linked to and the JAR Design A320. The default scenery looks good but takes up loads of space and there's no seasons. Most airports don't have any buildings, but you do get sloped runways.

Hi Chris,

Yes there do appear to be limitations with X plane.   But there have been a lot of new addons placed out on the
market and freeware.  Lots of new airport addons and there is a new 733 everyone is waiting for (http://ixeg.net/) by IXEG.
Even the video link above (crj200 vid) shows an awesome EDDF Frankfurt included with default X plane.

Intercity needs a CRJ and Xplane!   ;D ;D ;D
Well, I doubt that is going to happen, but only because you guys already do a lot!

If only we had the time! But theoretically our ACARS should already work with Xplane, providing you're using Windows and you have XUIPC installed. Don't think we've ever actually put it to the test though. I wouldn't mind having a bash at painting the JAR Design A320 if there was sufficient demand, although I can't guarantee the end result would be pretty!

Yes, i know another (US) virtual airlines that utilizes X plane along with FSX/ etc..
One thing I have considered is using X-plane for vatsim.   That way I can leave my FSX alone.
I used VoxATC6 with FSX.   After much practice with VoxATC I hope to try Vatsim this winter.

An Intercity X plane, plane would be great.   Still, this is a lot of work so if it doesn't happen I
understand.  You guys do a great job already.

Off topic,
flew last night from EGPH to EHAM in Intercity A320.
Great flight, except getting lost at EHAM   :o , and driving all over the place to find a gate ??? .  Need to print
out a better airport chart!!!   Oh and losing internet so had to wait to submit report.   But the ACARS held all the information so I could submit report when internet came back on. ;)

VATSIM is a lot of faff to setup initially and a steep (although short) initial learning curve . But once you've got the software setup, know how to check where ATC is and how to file a solid flightplan, it's actually quite simple as it's mainly repeating back instructions (we'll take it as read that you can fly to a good standard).

Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM) is a complete maze, and constantly changing too, so the chart never seems to marry up with the FS scenery. The taxi from 36L/18R is up to 20 minutes long and I remember reading something about it being in a different county to the rest of the airport! Despite all that, it remains the most popular Intercity destination that isn't a hub.

The official charts are at http://www.ais-netherlands.nl/aim/2015-08-06-AIRAC/eAIP/html/eAIP/EH-AD-2.EHAM-en-GB.html#eham-ad-2.24 and the ground chart itself is http://www.ais-netherlands.nl/aim/2015-08-06-AIRAC/eAIP/html/graphics/eAIP/EH-AD-2.EHAM-GMC-A2s.pdf although it's so small I struggle to read it unless I print A3 size (I think that's called tabloid paper in the USA?).

Its a pain (in real life) when you land 18R and then the wind changes and you takeoff 36L

Thanks for the charts Chris!

I can see a lot of reasons for the popularity of EHAM.
Personally, there is something about flying along the UK, then jumping over the
Channel to EHAM.   Also, it is very easy to choose which aircraft you want to
take to EHAM.  For example Airbus from EGPH to EHAM or Q400 from EGBB to
EHAM.   Love it!   ;D :)
