Title: VATSIM: UTC vs FSX time when filing FPs
Post by: Ron Kurz on Mar 05, 2016 07:22
When flying INTERCITY routes, most of the time the route schedules will not coincide with actual UTC that is requested for filing a FP on VATSIM - especially since one is always on the lookout for areas or airports which currently are being serviced with live ATC.

Since it is possible to set FSX time (to fit INTERCITY schedule OFF BLK times) I've been confused on which time would be correct to set FSX to?
For instance if its a morning flight and VATSIM is in the evening.  Up to now, I've always set FSX to the actual UTC when flying live atc which would make for different OFF BLK times in our schedules...

Thanx for some help on this subject.

CHeers, Ron

PS: Gatwick and Stansted always seem very active - any possibillites of adding them in the future?
PSS: I've been asked a few times now during online flying, what kind of airline we are - seems like a good way to promote INTERCITY a bit...

Taken from the SOPs which can be found pinned on the General Discussion Board (or here (http://viaintercity.com/forums/general-discussion/sop-(standard-operating-procedure)/)).

Hope this helps ;)

Setting simulator time
It is recommended you set flight simulator time to enable departure (engine start) at the scheduled time (e.g. set time approximately 20 minutes before scheduled departure). If you are flying online, you should set simulator time to match real time. You must not change the time once it has been set.

Thx. That definitely answers the question - so I guess for the logs the actual flight time is taken into account, no matter what OFF BLK time is used.

Your logbook works out block time, not on time performance. So it doesn't really matter what the sim time is set to.
