Was reading about this on BBC news, very interesting. Perhaps one day they'll go for a non-stop attempt?
I remember a few years ago reading about an unmanned solar aircraft called the QinetiQ Zephyr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qinetiq_Zephyr) that could stay airborne for months at a time, they were considering it as a cheap alternative to satellites.
