Hi All,

What value is typically being used as the DOW for Intercity's Q400's? Is it just the default value in the Majestic control panel (18,434kg)?

The SOP for the Q400 specifies a maximum passenger count however there is no mention what DOW should be used.

Regards,
Serge

The default DOW of 18434 kg used in the MJC84 control panel is on the heavy side, I believe it's based off an American carrier. Intercity's Q400s are substancially lighter, at around 18,000 kg iirc. In terms of seating I think all are configured as two class at present.

Thanks for that Chris. I recall on the Airline2Sim Q400 training they used a DOW of 18,000kg which I believe is based on Flybe's Q400's.

I'll update my aircraft profile accordingly. It may be worth adding that info to the Q400 SOP thread for reference.

Cheers,
Serge

Edit: Fixed Typo for DOW. Was 14,000kg to 18,000kg.

Hi Serge 14000Kg seems a tad light I think you'll find Chris's 18000Kg is more on the money....iirc 18000KG is used in the training video.  I'll check back

Cheers for now

Hi Steve,

Yes, you are correct. I had a typo there. It should read 18,000kg. Thanks for pointing that out.

Cheers,
Serge

I'll pop it in, the only reason I haven't already is because I didn't think anyone would really care; I guess I underestimated my own pilots!

You will find that definitions of what DOW/DOM/BOW actually consists of differ, but I consider it to include crew and catering in this case.

Intercity have two seating configurations for the Q400:
* 71 passengers (64 in Standard Class at 31" seat pitch and 4 abreast, plus 7 in Premium Class at 34" seat pitch 3 abreast)
* 76 passengers (76 in Standard Class at 31" seat pitch and 4 abreast)

I believe all of our Q's are using the 71 seat configuration and the BOW is based around that. The 76 seat config is marginally heavier, but only by 100 kg or so.

Thanks for clarifying this and adding it to the SOP Chris.
