Q400 landing not recorded

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to Chris H. I was able to get my ACARS working.
(I added the missing file and was able to run the updater).

I flew from EGPH to EGPD (Nice flight at night with good weather!)

Upon landing in the Q400, I was not able to find the "On Blocks" button on the ACARS.
I never heard the chime when landing so my guess is that ACARS never recorded me landing.
But it was recording me, as I could see my plan on the Live Acars Map.

But, I have to admit that I was using a different Q400 livery.  Maybe that was the reason??
(Since the new computer, I have a problem getting the Intercity livery to work and need to figure out why).

Any thoughts?

Should I just uninstall and reinstall everything?

Bill

Hi Bill

Just looking at your flight and it looks like you didnt leave the ground but you made it to Aberdeen! so something must have gone wrong!
If you are flying the Majestic Q400 there will have been a pop-up when you began your flight asking if you were flying the Majestic Q400. If you select "Yes" then you need to press the Off and On Blocks buttons when you depart and then arrive as at the moment the Majestic Q400 isnt compatible with ACARS as the Majestic team havent released the FSUIPC outputs!

If you have a look in the ACARS User Guide (C:\Program Files\Intercity ACARS\help.pdf) and this forum post (http://viaintercity.com/forums/news/ntc-majestic-q400-acars-workaround-**updated-11-05-13**/) It will explain what you need to do!

Hello Chris,

I did hit "yes" and "on blocks"  per the SOP.

If I have time tonight, I will try to reinstall ACARs and redo the flight.
Maybe something funny happened with the installation?

Thanks,
Bill

I have just had the same problem.  I landed at EDDL and it did not record the landing rate and I cannot submit the report.
The acars flight report ID is A5m8JiZoF

Hello Davor,

Were you able to see the "On Blocks" button after landing?
My guess is that you did not hear a chime when landing?

Thanks,
Bill

Don't know if this is the problem, but I noticed the following when reinstalling ACARS.

When running the FILE FIX, there are two errors that show up.   I have attached a print screen of the
two errors below.

But after running the file fix,  I am able to update my ACARS regardless of the errors.

Hi Davor, I can see that your last flight was filed with no problems?

Hi Bill

Did you run the fix as administrator?

Bill Ant (1076)

Hello Chris,

Yes, I ran the file as an admin.
I placed the files from the file fix into the ACARS folder located in my program x86 folder and then ran as admin.

Hi Bill, Im not sure then, so can you clarify where your up to now then, will ACARS run at all? And if it does run what errors or problems are you having?

Chris Hulme (1003)

Just reading your last post saying that the On Blocks button wont appear, for the On Blocks button to appear you must be in "Taxing" phase.

After you press Off Blocks ACARS will wait until your off the ground, when your off the ground it will go into "Climbing", once you level off itll go into "Cruise" then when you start descending itll go into "Descent" During the descent phase itll look for you being on the ground, once you are on the ground the On Blocks button should appear?

Does this help?

Bill Ant (1076)

Hello Chris,

I will do a flight tonight.   During the flight, I will record what phase the ACARS is recording and
whether the "On Blocks" button reappears.

Well everything went ok tonight!  ;D

Flew from EGPH to EGPD.   The approach and landing into EGPD was pretty scary!!!  :-[
Messed up my descent, along with
clouds to 1000ft, Rain!, and lots of turbulence :o !   But I knew that it would be bad going in! 8)

I watched what phase my plane was reading on the live ACARS map (from the website).
The "On Blocks" button appeared during the taxing phase.

When I reinstalled the file fix (again), I only got the first error and not the second one.
So hopefully I am good to go.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Bill, I had a look at your flight report (pirep) and it looks good. However, I would advise you don't press "Off Blocks" until you are ready to start the engines; pressing off blocks before the flight is fully loaded can confuse ACARS and lead to problems.

If you look at your flight log for your flight on the 22nd, you will note that it believes you departed when you loaded up at your origin airport, because it has logged your start point as the South Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa (this is because when Flight Sim is on the "Create a Flight" screen, programs that talk to Flight Sim see you as being on the Equator and Greenwich meridian at sea level).

Hopefully we can remove the "Off Blocks" button in a future version of Intercity ACARS, but this depends on wherever Majestic update the Q400 to feed the required state information to FS UIPC.

But I am glad we've finally got ACARS working for you again  :) Chris is working hard on Intercity ACARS v2 at the moment, which is a total rewrite using modern code and so should have better compatibility and reliability.

...you must be in "Taxing" phase...
I'm always in "taxing" phase thanks to the government  :D Sorry, I couldn't resist highlighting that typo!

Bill Ant (1076)

Hello Chris L,

Thanks for the tip!  Actually, during the last flight I was ready to start engines after disconnecting
from ground services.  Unfortunately something funny happened with the master battery switch and I
lost all power :P .   Hence the delay leaving EGPH.
