Job description and overview
The Events Coordinator will regularly research, organise, publicise and support special events and charter flights for Intercity Airways pilots. In addition, they will be constructively involved with Intercity's management team and contribute to its discussions. This is a great opportunity to contribute to our airline and enhance the experience of your fellow pilots!

Responsibilities

       
  • Organise special events and charter flights on a regular basis (at least one event per month, ideally more)
  • Plan events around pilots' availability to ensure highest possible attendances
  • Research pilots' interests and current events around the world to ensure events and charters are relevant and interesting
  • Publicise events and charters to airline pilots and the virtual aviation community at large (e.g. Avsim and VATSIM forums, Facebook pages)
  • Ensure events and charters run smoothly by ensuring resources are in place and providing guidance to pilots
  • Liaising with VATSIM and/or IVAO to arrange for ATC coverage of events where appropriate
  • Maintain regular communications and consult with Intercity's management team, plus constructive involvement in management discussions and decisions
  • Any other reasonable duties (e.g. providing assistance to pilots in our forums, light administrative duties)
Requirements

       
  • A high standard of written English
  • An active member of Intercity Airways
  • Route planning experience (to be compliant with UK & European standard routing requirements)
  • Ability to commit 1-3 hours per week, driven and motivated
  • Active membership of VATSIM network
  • Facebook account
  • Trustworthy (successful applicant may be granted access to shared management resources and data, and company confidential information)
Desirable skills

       
  • Photoshop (to design marketing materials for events)
  • Active membership of IVAO network
  • Extensive knowledge of VATSIM

  • Applications should be sent to before Monday 1st September 2014, please include your Intercity Crew/Pilot ID in any correspondence.
  • Applicants should provide details of their aviation background (real world and/or virtual), a statement outlying how they meet each of the above responsibilities and requirements of this role, and any additional skills and experience they can provide to improve the Intercity community overall.

  • Applicants must disclose membership of any other virtual airlines and any staff positions they hold at those (N.B. membership of other virtual airlines does not preclude applicants from a staff position at Intercity)
  • We may request applicants participate in a voice interview via Teamspeak, Skype etc
  • Applications will be reviewed by at least two members of the Intercity management team
  • We appreciate the time and effort all applicants make in applying for this position, but regrettably we may not be able to respond to all unsuccessful applications individually
  • Should an insufficient number of applications be received or no applicant we deem suitable apply, we may leave this role unfulfilled and re-advertise it at a later date
Other notes
This role does not grant a controlling interest in Intercity Airways, nor any ownership rights. All works created in the course of your duties for Intercity will be the property of Intercity Airways and remain so should you leave the position or organisation. Intercity reserves the right to withdraw the position from a successful applicant at any time, without prior notice or reason (e.g. if it is deemed that another individual would be better able to fulfil the requirements of this role). As part of this role you may be privy to management resources, data, information, trade secrets and discussions which must be kept confidential at all times, even if you cease to be member of Intercity Airways, and we may pursue you for damages should any of these be disclosed, directly or indirectly. This is a voluntary and unpaid position which you may leave at any time.
