Our mysterious new base in Southern Europe is *drum roll* Milan Linate!
Here's the stats for its opening season:
Daily flights: 164       Routes: 126       Destinations: 63
Aircraft: 19 (5xJS41, 7xDH8D & 9xA320)

Milan is the business capital of Italy with an area population of 5.3 million people and Linate is the closest airport to its centre with an 8000 ft (2400m) runway; amongst the quirks you should be aware of is Runway 36 is preferential up to 7 kts tailwind component (or 5 kts when wet) and departure noise abatement requires pilots to not retract flaps until above 1500 ft AMSL and maintain V2+20 until 3000 ft. Oh and the runway is closed every Tuesday HR 2315-0015 (2215-2315Z) so some late night flights do not operate on Tuesday.

Above: Temporary map, lighter area shows airports within 90 mins flying time

And here's the full list of destinations served:
Ajaccio, Amsterdam, Barcelona,Bari Palese, Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Europort, Berlin Brandenburg, Bilbao, Billund, Bordeaux Merignac, Bremen, Brindisi, Bristol, Brussels, Budapest, Cagliari Elmas, Catania Fontanarossa, Cologne/Bonn Koeln, Copenhagen, Cork, Dortmund Wickede, Dresden, Dublin, East Midlands Nottingham, Frankfurt, Geneva, Gothenburg Landvetter, Hamburg, Hannover, Leeds Bradford, Leipzig, Lille Lesquin, Liverpool, Luxembourg, Madrid, Malaga, Manchester, Marseille Provence, Munich, Nantes Atlantique, Naples Capodichno, Newcastle, Nuremberg, Olbia Costa Smeralda, Oslo Gardermoen, Palermo, Palma De Mallorca, Paris Orly, Porto, Prague, Rome Ciampino, Seville, Southampton, Stavanger, Stockholm Arlanda, Strasbourg Entzheim, Stuttgart, Toulouse Blagnac, Trieste, Valencia, Venice, Vienna and *sharp intake of breath* Warsaw Okecie Chopin

For PFPX users, Serge has kindly updated his Intercity package to reflect the latest schedule and it's now available from the Downloads page in the Crew Centre :)

Remember: If you don't already own PFPX we can get you 20% off  :)

Just a thought. Jetstream Designs produce a payware scenery for Linate through Simmarket. Worthwhile maybe trying to secure a 20% for the VA? Simmarket have regular sales as we know, but I can't recall when Linate was last reduced. Currently 24 Euros which is not too cheap when ORBX are selling their airports in the region of 13 Euros in their current sale!!!

Keith

Hurrah for the new base and thanks for all your work on this Chris.

BTW I found the scenery for LIML at http://www.napulevola.it/products/scenari.aspx to be pretty good for freeware and that's what I'll be using as I explore the new routes.

Keith Giannoni (1101)

Thanks Clive. Good freeware to use. Have downloaded it. I had their LIRN before AS brought out the payware.

Keith made a very good suggestion so I had discussions with SimMarket in relation to both their Düsseldorf and Milan Linate sceneries but unfortunately was unable to secure any discounts, mainly because of unprofessional "pop-up" VAs run by kids ruining things for the rest of us (as is sadly often the way in VA circles these days).

We'll just have to hope they have those products on discounted sale to the general public, SimMarket do run regular promotions so if you spot anything related to these, post it here  :)

Thanks, for trying. As I mentioned, not a great surprise, in truth. As it is the season of good will, I decided to treat myself to some good will and bought LIML anyway. Excellent scenery and FPS with Dash and A320.

Best,

Keith
