Title: My new PC
Post by: Dean Farley on Jul 27, 2014 08:40
Hi all,

I managed to get all my new parts put together yesterday,  They've been teasing me since Tuesday but work has been a nightmare this week and I didn't want to tackle a new build whilst tired.  So yesterday I finally had the time to put it all together.

I now have

i7 4790K
8 gig ram
Nvidia 680

With my old system I would be sitting at EGLC in fair weather with the Q400 and getting around 15 - 20 FPS but now with my new system I get around 40 - 50 so its pretty much doubled.  I've not actually done a flight yet because I need to set up PFPX and all the VA schedules again but this afternoon I shall be making a flight.  I was quite happy with my system before but I can't believe how smooth it now feels.  Those approaches in nasty weather with the Q400 are going to be a treat.

I feel like a kid again :P

Congrats to you!

I went from a struggling labtop :'(   to a beastly overclocked i7 in a suite cased sized case!  ;D

A new computer built specifically for FSX can make all the difference!
You can start to throw in all the addons and scenery pack to your hearts content!

I recently upgraded my machine, with the help of Mr Liu, I was running an old machine with FS9, was getting 20fps at best, now I get upwards of 50 with FSX!

Very happy :D

I just completed my first flight with the new machine.  Took the Q400 from EGGP to EGPH.  Had some stormy weather at EGPH but everything felt smooth (well apart from the turbulence)

It's great,  I feel like FSX has been given new life.
