Very much advanced notice, but RAF Cosford (30 mins drive North of Birmingham) is hosting the FlightSim Show 2015 on the Saturday 3rd October. No idea if it's any cop but I thought I'd give it a mention. Full details at http://www.flightsimulationshow2015.com, (http://www.flightsimulationshow2015.com/,) apparently an £8 advance ticket gets you a "goodie bag" and under-16s go free if you want to wow/bore (delete as applicable) the kids.

UPDATE: Apparently RAF Cosford museum is free entry, they have a Vulcan, Victor and TSR-2 amongst their collection.
To far for me! But it would be great to see some pictures of the show from anyone attending.

I went last year. It was an excellent event. Well supported by FS manufacturers such as Aerosoft and Flightstore. Lots of stalls, demos and exhibitions. RAF Cosford hosts one of the best aircraft museums in the country. As Chris mentions it is free admission.
It's an ideal day out. For me, I spent a couple of hours looking around, then spent some time in the museum the back into the exhibition. If you book a train well in advance, you can get there very cheaply for a day trip. It's was also fun just chatting to other visitors about our great hobby.

Me too Bill but I'm sure if we ask the Boss nicely, very nicely, he'll come up with something to help us with airfares and accommodation etc ::) Oh nearly forgot I guess Sergio may well be interested in an assisted travel package from the airline :)

Yep, coming from Perth I would have a nice 20 hour flight to look forward to. Would that justify an upgrade to business class? ;)
This does indeed sound like a great day out. It's unfortunate timing on my behalf as I am actually in London for a week late in July. Shame it's not on earlier. To digress a bit, does anyone have any suggestions for aviation related sights in London or within a day trip of London that would be worth seeing? I did live in London for a year and a half back in 2003/4 so have been to a few museums in London such as the Imperial War Museum and Science Museum which were great although this time I will have my 2 year old son in toe. He also has a like for planes (and cars and trucks and buses and trains.....) so I'm looking forward to expereicing some great places with him.

RAF Museum Hendon is well worth a visit. Free entry and fairly easy to get to on the Northern line

- He would enjoy the top floor of the Science Museum as they have an hands-on experiments section for kids. The planes are still hanging from the ceiling there too!
- An obvious choice would be the London Transport Muesum, although I've never been myself.
- Emirates Air Line provides views of London City Airport, but it's a bit out the way boarding at the Millennium Dome/O2 then taking the DLR back to Tower Hill (DLR trains are driverless so if it's quiet your son can sit at the front and pretend to drive)! If you do visit, it's worth getting off the tube at Canary Wharf too, because the station is as gob smacking as the sky scrapers above.

RAF Museum Hendon looks great and not too far out of central London (will be staying near Waterloo so it's convenient for the Northern Line). I remember the London Transport Museum in the corner at Covent Garden but like you Chris never visited. This could be heaven for the little fella with the buses and trains. I did think about revisiting the science museum. I remember the planes hanging from the ceiling. Good to know they are still there.
