Hi All
I would like to ask about basic info of timing. I am using PFPX software for planning flights with sheduling file from this place.
When I choose flight whitch I want to fly, There is time off block, time of takeoff, time of landing and time of inblock. The flight plan from PFPX sometimes add 30% of  flight time. In result table from ACARS after I finish my flight is red (orange) color whit time delayed, but I think that time of dep and app is +- 10 min. My questions are :
Which time is counting to lenght of flight ?  From takoff to land or from stand (gate) to stand (gate)?
Is there some tutorial with correct planning and timing procedures ?

Thank you for respond.

Hi Jiri

The times on the schedules are block to block, which is engine start to engine shutdown.
These are an approximate, and may not always be spot on as they dont account for weather, routing etc

G'day Jiri,

As Chris mentioned the STD and STA times in PFPX are block times. Although most routes in the schedule have appropriate block times there are a few that are pretty tough. On the flip side there are also a few that have way more than enough block time allowed.

Looking at your logbook the recent flight you flew from EGLC to LSGS is a particularly tough one. It has a block time of 1:30 however that is no where near enough. Although the great circle distance is 429nm the actual flight plan distance (including sids & stars) is 616nm, a 44% increase in distance. That is using a realistic validated cfmu route. Throw in a headwind and life is even tougher.

I ran this through PFPX and got an EET of 2:04 (the weather at the time had an average headwind of 5 knots). Add in taxi time and you're looking at a block time of approximately 2:20.  That's 50 minutes more than the scheduled block time of 1:30. Not much you can do about that even if you fly flat out. It does help add a bit of colour to your logbook though.  :)

So in summary, don't worry too much. It doesn't appear you're doing anything wrong. Chris has just thrown in a few fights to make life challenging for his pilots.  ;D

Regards,
Serge

As I'm doing the schedules at the moment, if there's any time left before EGLC closes I'll increase the flight time on to all the LSGS sectors

Thank you all of you for information about this timing. It is more clear to me now.it is new perspective for me to fly real sheduling time like a real pilots. I want to very thank you Chris for youre effort with this  virtual airlines.

Sometimes at work, we get a block time which is less than the actual flight time when the winds are bad, and there isnt much you can do about it!

I can now confirm 40 minutes has been added to the EGLC-LSGS and LSGS-EGLC sector block time, and will be published as part of the Autumn schedules at the end of October.

Ok Chris Thank you. I will fly this flight again at IVAO action 30 hours online.
