Title: Simbrief Plans
Post by: Graham Woodley on May 22, 2016 14:03
I've just noticed in Simbrief that there is now an option to export a .fpr file for a Q400 flightplan.

Where do I save it to and how do I load it into the FMC?

I suppose I could read the manual, but I'm very lazy today and I do recall reading somewhere a while ago that it wasn't possible to load plans into the FMC?

Thanks.

AFAIK You can't, must be for another addon?

I like the new ACARS integration with the Simbrief OFP.

Well done there!

Thanks! Glad you like it! If they're supporting it I'll add a button to save the flight plan file for the Q4 in ACARS

That was true until quite recently, as you've seen there is now support within Simbrief. There is also:
QuoteFlight Plan Converter from RouteFinder, Aerosoft's Flightsim Commander (FSC) and some other sources, to the MJC8Q400 FMS flight plan format. By Bernd Laaß
which you can find at http://up2sky.dyndns.org/FPRConverter/ (http://up2sky.dyndns.org/FPRConverter/)

I've used this fpr feature, and it works fine. The the big thing you'll notice is is that sid's and stars don't come across with the plan. Apart from that you can save a lot of data input time.

OK, but you can already download a .fpr file from Simbrief (see my screenshot.)

My question is where do I save it to and how do I load it into the FMC?

Save MJC8Q400 flightplans in the SimObjects\Airplanes\mjc8q400\nav\routes. There is a LIST page in the FMS for loading saved routes but I can't remember how you get to it, sorry.

Im going to add an export option for the Q400 and the Airbus within ACARS, just have to bear with me. My computer room is filled with all of our worldly possessions as we've been decorating and I'm back on lates this week! Oh and I'm already making some changes to ACARS so can't release until I've got them sorted!!

Nice work Chris, but where does the flightplan go after pressing the Export Flightplans on the performance page?

It says 'Flightplan exported as EGBBEGNT' (in red) but it doesn't appear in the mjc8q\nav\routes folder.

It should go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\mjc8q\nav\routes

Ah OK, my FSX is not in Program Files :)

I was going to search the registry for FSX location, but figured that could wait for another update so just saved it in default location!

No worries Chris, you can put it on your 'things to do' list :)

It's easy enough to export from Simbrief into 'downloads' then drag it over into the folder.

Latest version of simbrief downloads automatically into your Aircraft's Nav folder. Very handy!
